The Little Red House that Could

by erin on Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Nestled in a suburb in Seattle is this high efficiency house that maximizes space will minimizing cost. The house, owned by Dave Sarti, is only 800 square feet and only cost him $180,000 to build. However, it certainly doesn’t feel that way.

In an article in the Seattle Times, Sarti says, “I probably could have squeezed in a third bedroom upstairs, but then I’d be dealing with a bunch of small rooms. It was important to me to have a small house, but also to have rooms proportioned such that they felt gracious. I didn’t want it to feel as if I was trying to do too much.”

The house is so innovative that it is featured in “The Perfect $100,000 Dollar House” by Karrie Jacobs.
