Utah's Park Silly Sunday Market
Park Silly Sunday is Utah’s first-ever zero-waste market. Starting June 17th, shoppers can browse the market stalls every Sunday for everything from local produce to arts and crafts. In order to participate, vendors must agree to “green guidelines” and use biodegradable utensils and containers supplied by the market.
Additionally, the market has reached out to local environmental non-profits like Recycle Utah. “This concept is absolutely wonderful, and it’s something that other communities are already doing,” Insa Riepen, the executive director of Recycle Utah says. “We are excited to be involved with the Park Silly Sunday Market and are completely on board with their plan.”
Other services will include a bike valet, 100% post-consumer recycled material for all advertising campaigns, the showcase of two non-profits and a sustainable issues group every week, encouraging the use of the city’s free transit system, and two Zero-Waste stations which will receive compostable and recyclable items.
The Park Silly Sunday Market will happen on Sundays from 9am until 3pm between June 17th and October 14th on Park City’s Historic Main Street.
