Times Square Makes Room for Eco-Billboard

David Allen made a post some weeks back on Times Square’s first eco-sign and apparently it has now ballooned into another one to which Times Square will be unveiling an eco-billboard as well.
Times Square will always be full of the usual billboards where monster advertisers do their promotional gimmicks in New York’s busiest streets. Though it is bound to be crowded with all the ads flashing, Times Square is about to be unveil a new one and this time around it has been tagged as eco-friendly owing to its use of floodlights rather than light-emitting diodes. It will not have a backup generator, so it could go dark during a long period with little wind or sun.
Spokesman Ron Potesky says the sign’s turbines will probably be able to keep the billboard lit even after four days without breezes or bright sun.
