The eco friendly movement has brought about innovation in the tech and gadget industry unlike anything we’ve witnessed before in the history of technology. From solar powered laptops to Bamboo iPhone cases and beyond, the green and eco movement is here to stay.
Every year we look forward to the various new gadgets and trends that the eco tech industry brings forward. Below are but a handful of the latest and greatest products to come out (or soon to come out) by green tech engineers and enthusiasts from all over the globe.
1. LED Light Bulb Controlled By WIFI -
There’s a new eco light bulb in town and its name is LIFX LED. This smart bulb is unlike any other though, as you can control and manipulate it via the WIFI on your smartphone. What can you control exactly? The color and brightness, even match it to the songs on your playlist. It’s expected to come out later this year exclusively online for a cool $65.
2. Bikes That Generate Electricity -
In Denmark, the Crown Plaza Hotel has something unique and interesting not many other hotels in the area have. The ability for patrons to pedal their way to a FREE a meal. Literally. The hotel has set up generator bikes where a patron or guest can pedal for close to 15 minutes and earn enough electricity wattage to get a $36 voucher good towards a meal in the hotel. Talk about a novel idea and a healthy way to support the eco friendly movement in Denmark. We expect to see more of this type of innovation (generator bikes) in other countries soon, including right here in the US.
3. Electric Planes -
The Elektra One plane created by NASA is an all electric one seater aircraft that soon anyone with the cash to buy it – can. It’s powered entirely by on board batteries and carries enough juice to stay in the air for close to 3 hours or up to 250 miles. The massive amount of energy required to power a traditional airplane is nothing to sneeze at and with the GREEN economy we are now in, it’s just a matter of time before the aircraft industry gets an overhaul to include lower carbon emission flights. Such as the Elektra One.
Although this eco technology is not cheap, with it comes about new and improved ways of doing things or simply a better quality of life. Things this planet needs. For example, with clean tech comes clean air, less carbon emissions and less pollutants to inhale and ingest.
We look forward to the many more green innovations yet to come and as usual, we will profile them here as soon as they hit the web. What was your favorite eco gadget? from the list above. Tell us in the comment area.
