Beijing to go green for the Olympics

by David Allen on Friday, August 10th, 2007

It is less than a yea until the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China and the city intends to go green in order to make the city a more pleasurable experience for the athletes, media and visitors. At the moment the city is not the most healthiest place to be, with smog lingering around in the mornings. This has even become an issue with the competitors and in some cases they will not even be turning up to the event until they really have to in order to stay away from the pollution problems.

In order the change this the city intends to make a serious attempt to adopt a more eco friendly approach, this will be done by looking at the current eco friendly technologies available in transport, power supply, water and waste management.

If they manage to get some of these issues under control before the Olympics are due to open, then the whole event will be a major success, after all the thing that the Chinese government want or need is the worlds media making more of the pollution and hazards, rather than the sports event themselves.
