Man with Groovy Van Gets Fined for Using Veggie Oil

by Missy on Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

As reported in Groovy Green (one of my fave blogs) a man with a van in Charlotte, North Carolina was fined $2,000 for using a veggie-oil powered van. He has been fined $1,000 from his home state, plus a $2,500 bond if he wants to continue using this alternative earth-friendly fuel source, and the government will also be slapping him with a fine for another $1,000 for not paying “motor fuel taxes”.

He was caught because he displayed a bumper sticker that read, “Powered by 100% Vegetable Oil“, wow this is sad and amazing, that he or anyone else would be penalized for trying to lessen their carbon footprint.

Should this guy have been penalized like this? What do you think.

Hmmm... Yeah, sometimes laws should be enforced with common sense. He must have been pulled over by a cop who didn't get enough sleep and just got yelled by his wife in the morning... this is sad... Either they have to change the laws or the guy should at least write a letter to the governor of North Carolina.
