Ethanol Fuel: Safe to Use, Bad to Produce

by Brian Yalung on Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Ethanol Production

We often praise the use of alternative fuel especially ethanol which is produce from natural resources such as corn and other renewable resources. While this shift has been obviously a big boost to us, we fail to see the process of producing them which is probably an issue as far as electricity use is concerned.

Apparently the amount of electricity used is high and while they boast of using coal as a means to offset this, coal is another source of producing carbon dioxide which in turn has become harmful to the environment.

So the search for good means to live the eco-friendly living exists and it should all start from the manufacturing process beforehand.

However, it takes a lot electricity to make ethanol, and power companies say the most cost-effective way to produce that electricity is from coal.

Environmentalists say that coal is the nation’s biggest source of carbon dioxide.

They say more earth-friendly fuels like natural gas should be used to produce the needed electricity.

Yes and of course there is not use of energy or power used in the production of gasoline either. Last I read many of these ethanol plants are using methane gas from the production of cow manure.
