Wal-Mart to Offer Hormone-Free Milk

For Wal-Mart, more is better but health is more important as far as serving preferred milk from cows that are not injected with artificial growth hormones aimed at providing additional milk. While it does seem better, health is taking a backseat due to these artificial injections.
There is an element called rBST (ecombinant bovine somatotrpoin, also known as recombinant bovine growth hormone). This is the main reason for forcing cow bodies to produce an additional 15% of milk but with risk as far as health towards people is concerned due to this additive.
Approximately 18 percent of dairy cows in the United States are injected with Monsanto Co.’s recombinant bovine somatotrpoin (rBST), also known as recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH). An artificial version of the naturally occurring bovine growth hormone, rBST forces cows’ bodies to produce 15 percent more milk than usual.
Although most cows are not treated with rBST, the milk from many different cows and dairies is often mixed together before being packaged. This means that unless otherwise labeled, most milk sold in the United States probably includes some from rBST-treated cows.

This has come just at the right time, after all the uproar about the contaminated baby milk in the Far East.
