$1 Million painting found in the trash

by David Allen on Friday, October 26th, 2007

Some people like to have a little rummage around the bins to see what can be used, whereas to other people it would seem to be a definite no no. But it if you look at the story of Elizabeth Gibson from Manhattan, in New York. She was walking home from getting a coffee when she noticed an object out with the trash, she had a look and noticed that is was a painting, she took this home and put it up on her wall, that was four years ago.

dumpster diving

Eventually she handed it into the auction house Sotherby’s where it will be auctioned, the price is expected to reach around $1 million, but it could go for more! And as for Elizabeth, well she had the pleasure of having an original Rufino Tamayo hanging on her wall for four years and a reward of $15,000, now that is what you call recycling!
