This Summer Grow Food, Not A Lawn
There is a fantastic new movement which encourages the growing of food instead of grass. No not that type of grass, but the lawn variety. The motto is “Food not lawns”.
The idea is to plant a garden and allocate some of the resources you use to tend to your lawn, to growing a plentiful garden. You use water to grow your garden, right? Try using that water for a different and more utilitarian purpose…food.
Start by looking into the vegetables and fruits that will grow in your region, as this will help you to grow a successful garden. Try the state seasonality guide resource and see what you should be planting and when. Now is a great time to think about a proposed backyard garden and get all the supplies and seeds needed.
