PETA Trying To Save The Whales Again, But This Time They’re Referring To Human Whales
PETA, the animal rights organization, is alot of things but one thing they are not is subtle.
They’re also marketing geniuses and this could not be anymore apparent than their most recent campaign, Save The Whales – Lose The Blubber, Go Vegetarian. In it they go the route of weight watcher’s and exclaim that eating meat is making Americans fat. Plain and simple, that is the message of this campaign and accompanying billboard.
Eating meat is responsible for god knows how many obese Americans. Why? Because of sheer quantity. It isn’t solely the act of eating meat, it is the quantity of meat eaten. Moderation isn’t something us Americans are use to (or like), it’s something we have to work at. But if you do the research animal fat is unlike plant based fat, it is far more unhealthy. I don’t need to make a case for this, as there is vast amounts of research compiled by various health and science organizations to prove this.
So is PETA out of line by bringing forth this issue? For calling out our obese epidemic? Not in my opinion, because obesity is a very serious issue and one that is responsible for alot of health problems in both men and women.
They say that heart disease is the number one killer in this country, well guess what? Heart disease is STRONGLY correlated with being overweight, the two go hand in hand. So is high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, etc.
PETA did what they do best, which is bring forth serious issues to the forefront and get people talking and thinking about them.
