Some people suffer from SAD during Winter months and it can get bad for those who suffer from it acutely.
Essentially SAD stands for seasonal affective disorder and although it may appear to be a mild disorder, it isn’t. For some, it can mean the difference between able to successfully perform work duties and it crippling their ability to finish or excel at their job functions. And even in the case of a housewife, it can mean a bad mood all day which can affect the entire household.
So what does this have to do with green and eco living? Because it involves lighting. One of the therapies involved in alleviating the symptoms of SAD is the strategic use of lighting. Springwise recently wrote a brief piece on lighting which can be used for this purpose and it happens to be eco friendly. It’s called Solatube and effectively this LED bulb or tube brings in outside light indoors and at night, illuminates without electricity. It’s considered a smart LED bulb – which means it consumes less energy or no energy than a traditional bulb.
