The soft house that creates power

It’s an interesting concept that Sheila Kennedy from KVA Matx has, she is a great believer in integrating solar cell technology into the design of buildings and structures. They have gone so far as to design the Soft House which uses curtains to produce 16,000 watt hours of electricity.

Virtually every office building or home has either blinds or curtains, but they have never been used before to produce power, which is really a waste because they nearly always have direct sunlight on them at some point in the day. KVA Matx has just married the two together.

Maybe this material would be more practical for making a solar umbrella as in the previous post - easier to fold away to carry and store. Suppose there will be power generating capacity differences to consider too.

Brilliant - we have thought about putting solar panels on our roof but they are still extemely expensive. Like your roof sun is always getting into your windows so this is an excellent idea. I guess in years to come we’ll all have our own power from the sun and wind etc.
