El Niño Plagues the Philippines

by Brian Yalung on Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

One of the worst things a country or region would want to have is to save water for they may use it all up. What generates additional water for reservoirs? Well, rains of course are the main source of water but the thing is, rains are not coming over.

Such is the experience of countries such as the Philippines. Dam levels are slowly diminishing and are not being replaced due to non-rainy days ahead. Cloud seeding has been resorted to, but it will take a lot of seeds to replenish the dilapidating water levels to date.

Weather forecasters have declared that no storm is in sight for the coming month hence a warning sign to which dry spells and water conservation must be practiced immediately. People call it the El Niño phenomenon and hopefully there will be enough water until the rainy seasons truly set in.
