USDA Under Fire for Organic Standards Screw-up
I do not know if any of you remember but in late 2005 and 2006 the organic activist group that goes under the name of the Cornucopia Institute called out a leading organic manufacturer on its organic standards.
Supposedly the Aurora had stuffed thousands of cows into confined areas instead of letting the animals graze freely which is what is supposed to be done under federal organic regulations. In August the USDA soon found Aurora guilty of fourteen violations in the organic standards, the USDA soon after dropped all investigation when Aurora promised to raise there standards.
Cornucopia Institute has now brought the USDA under its sights for not properly penalizing Aurora, Cornucopia institute is also going after some private companies that give out organic licenses.
