Cotton to be 10% organic by 2015

by David Allen on Saturday, May 26th, 2007

If you ever wondered how much cotton was organic? The figure it is a bit of a surprise for at the moment the figure is around one percent, I would have thought that the figure would be more, but the industry is expecting a huge rise over the next few years.

The Organic exchange is expecting the rise to take the amount of organic cotton to around ten percent by the years 2015 to 2020, this may not seem a great deal, but is a marked improvement on the current figures.

It can take up three years for the finished product to get into the stores, from when it has been harvested, so there is a long period in time to change things over.
