“Green” Pizza Chain Keeps Growing
Pizza Fusion, America’s organic chain restaurant leader (who would have though — a chain organic restaurant!) is finding business to be pretty good. They opened in January 2007 with 20 franchises in Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Colorado. Business has been booming, so the chain is expanding to 40 stores this year. They expect to have over 150 locations by the year 2010.
“The interest we’ve received in our green business model is a sign of the times,” Randy Romano, vice president of business development with Pizza Fusion, explains. “Investors are taking notice at companies’ impact on the environment and seeking out more eco-friendly operations. Many find sustainable business to be rewarding on a number of levels.”
Their menu is 98% organic, they only use eco-cleaners and sanitizers, their employees have organic cotton uniforms, use reusable or biodegradable utensils, and have a recycling pizza box program. Additionally, Pizza Fusion purchases wind energy credits to help off set their carbon emissions.
With all those eco-initiatives, no wonder the chain is doing so well!
