Tinto Coffeehouse in Toronto Serves Up Ethical Eats

by erin on Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

I love this coffee house a lot. It serves up yummy South American treats in the middle of Little Poland. And it recently got an awesome review from Taste T.O.!

Tinto Coffeehouse’s yummy goods include muffins, brownies, and banana-apple loaf all made right there (all $2 each), vegan, gluten-free organic chocolate cake ($5.50), organic, gluten-free carrot cake ($5.50), cookies and date squares ($2) each. They also have a cookies from St. John’s Bakery ($0.75) as well as St. John’s Bakery apple cranberry pie ($3.50).If you are in the Toronto area and want to help yourself to some wonderful organic goods, this is the place! you can find it at 89 Roncesvalles Avenue in Toronto, Ontario.

Your food is delicious and unique for Toronto and most particularly this neighbourhood. However, I do take exception to your staff referring to sparking mineral water as "pop". I find it hypocritical that instead you serve a 1/2 ltr. PLASTIC bottle of DEMINERALISED water. Yikes! Plastic, regardless of its processing contains Bisphenol A and other crap that leaches into the water and goes into the digestive system while the demineralised water leaches minerals out of the body. There are several imported "naturally carbonated" mineral waters available even in NO FRILLS that are packed in GLASS bottles. You might simply wish to offer filtered water from your taps or go to naturally volcanic GEROLSTEINER Water (Germany), fIUGGI (Italy). This 'holier than tho' attitude about mineral water is an insult to the informed.
