High Fructose Corn Syrup Epidemic

by Missy on Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

As a means of lowering costs, many food manufacturers are turning to the unhealthy and fat happy High Fructose Corn Syrup, instead of cane sugar.

It seems as though a common farming practice is to use methods which lower costs but contribute to the obesity epidemic in this country. A recent article on Tree Hugger outlines the practices they are using, such as using high-fructose corn syrup in products as opposed to cane sugar in order to reduce costs. Yet these products are potentially damaging your and your childs health as weight gain increases and obesity in America soars.

Solution: Read labels, get informed, know what is in your food, and vote with the almighty dollar.
