Did you know that every year over 15 billion disposable alkaline batteries get sent to landfills? Yes, 15 billion.

As you can see this is a crisis, but the good news is that you can help. You can help by replacing your use of disposable batteries to power up your devices, with the more earth-friendly rechargeable battery.

Below we take a look at two of the more popular rechargeable battery varieties. Have a fave not mentioned? Let us know in the comments area.

1. USB Cell – This rechargeable battery is made by a London agency named Moixa, and what makes it popular is that you can recharge it via any USB port. In many cases, you can juice up your devices after just a few minutes of recharging it.

  • Totally agree that people need to realise that there is a real environmental problem with throwaway batteries and start using rechargeable batteries much more.

I've used both the USB battery and the eneloops, don't think much of the USBs but the Eneloops are great batteries.
