Quarry Turned into Hotel
It is an interesting concept, that a disused quarry can be turned into a hotel, how is this possible? And where is it? Well if I told you that it was in China, then everything should begin to fall into place, because I think that it is safe to say that a project like this could in fact only be built in China.
The hotel complex is going to be part of the massive new city that is being built just outside of Shanghai called Songjiang Garden City, and it is believed that initially there will be 500,000 people living there.
The hotel will be of course a five star resort set in the water filled quarry, will have 400 beds, with underwater views including some rooms that actually look out under the water. Throughout the hotel water theme will be carried through, with the center area using the existing rock face, vegetation and waterfalls.
This is truly an innovative design, using natural rock formations to form parts of the building itself.
