Looks like Cardboard Technologies is serious about its brilliant $10 Cardboard Bicycle. The company recently launched an Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign so that it can raise enough money to send these beauties in mass production.
To produce the recycled cardboard bikes, the company has kept a lofty goal of $2 million, which it has to meet in the next 45 days. For the uninitiated, cardboard bike is the invention of Israeli inventor Izhar Gafni, who bends and folds pieces of recycled cardboard into strong, weight-bearing shapes. “Basically the idea is like Japanese origami, but we don’t compress the cardboard and we don’t break its structure,” he explained in a press release. “We overcome the cardboard’s failure points, by spreading out the weight to create durability.”
The bike also uses recycled plastic bottles and used car tires and it is s fire and water resistant and can take weight of a 400-pound person.
So head over to Indiegogo and contribute to this incredible bike.
