5 NJ Schools Win Grant Awards For Various Recycling Programs
In New Jersey, five area schools have won grants to start various recycling programs proposed by students.
One school was awarded $977 by the Union County Green Grant, an initiative by a local representative, to collect used CD’s video tapes, and game cartridges to be sent to a local recycler.
Another school won a grant for $1,000 to start a used sneaker drive. This one is in partnership with the national Nike shoe recycling program, with all the gym shoes collected going towards creating new playgrounds.
There is diversity in the programs proposed by the students and this is a fantastic way to get the kids early and teach them about conservation efforts. The five New Jersey schools awarded received grants of up to $1,000 each and all the winning projects are now soon to breathe life.
