Tote bags can be made using any material available but the real intent of these bags is really to reduce the use of plastic bags which contribute highly to the growing waste problem. Apparently Andy Marks has put it up a notch through his company called Sleeping Bags.
The main materials used for his tote bag line are that of old bed linens. The tote bags carry various artistic designs made by artists like Sir John Hegarty, Jason Bruges and Vicki Murdoch. Sleeping Bags has partnered with Marriott Hotel at Marble Arch in London and charity institution St. Mungo to make this all happen. Apparently the process goes like this.
Marks gets the sheets from Marriott Hotel where the bed linens are cut and stitched. Afterwards they are designed by local artists where the proceeds from the sales of these bags are then donated to St. Mungo’s projects.
