Here is something new when it comes to turning discarded materials into something useful. This time we find old porcelain coming from old toilets, recycled in such a way and turned into a new mixture which is called Porticrete.
The whole thing was made possible by Freeman Anthony. The Porticrete is now used for pedestrian walkways. The mixture was a result of coming up with a way to put some 400 old toilets due for replacement back to good use by a local charity.
The process included crushing the old toilets and adding the Porticrete mix. The toilet up 20% of the overall blend. By doing this, Anthony was able to save 5 tons of porcelain from Bellingham’s landfill.
