Have Cell Phones lying around? here are 2 Easy Ways to Recycle them

cell-phones.gif

Many people buy a new cell phone about every 2 years or so, if not sooner. Not too mention replacements needed when we drop our cell phones in water, or when damage takes place.

What to do with your old cell phones? Recycle, of course. There are programs in place, that make it easy to get rid of your old cell phone, in an environmentally safe way.

What will happen to these phones once you have dropped them off?

  • They will either be reconditioned and tuned into new phones
  • They may be given to developing countries that have no easy access (or funds) for new mobiles
  • They might go to serve shelters or agencies to be used as emergency communication devices

The amount of cell phones sitting in waste right now is pretty astronomical, as you may or may not know. But we can do something, we can make a difference, one cell phone at a time.

Did you know?
that in the state of California, retailers as of July 2006, cannot sell mobile phones, unless they have some sort of recycling program in place for old and used cell phones
