I Can’t Recycle That. Yes You Can!
Think you can’t recycle a prom dress, used carpeting, or an old clunky refrigerator? Yes you can! A great article on the Baltimore Sun today highlights these very products and dishes out some easy resources on where and how to properly dispose of these often overlooked items.
Hand Towels – What can used (but clean) towels be good for? Well animal shelters use them for various purposes, including bedding for incoming animals, drying after a bath, and more. So find your local animal shelter and ask if they need your used (but clean) lot. Do a Google search or look in the yellow pages.
Refrigerator – There is a new database put out by the team of Steel Alliance and the Steel Recycling Institute, which allows you to enter in a zip code and search for a local recycler.
Carpet – Think you can’t recycle carpet. Yes you can. Many products can be made using recycled carpet such as roofing shingles and auto parts, so to give your old carpet new life, try Carpet Recovery.org
Sports Equipment – To buy sell and trade sports items such as bats, basketballs, soccer balls, etc call your local Play It Again Sports franchise. They accept a variety of gently used sports goods.
