New Law In California Curbs Theft From Recycling Bins

by Missy on Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Did you know that there is growing concern in San Jose, California with thieves helping themselves to bottles and cans from recycling bins?

According to a recent article a new law went into effect just this year on January 1st to try and curb this small (but growing) problem. Essentially if you are caught helping yourself to any material from recycling centers, you will be fined.

Recycling centers make their money off of this material (which they so diligently gather) and it is also how they are able to keep the doors open and get consumers involved. We don’t want anyone or anything disrupting this flow. This is an issue that hopefully will be controlled.

It seems thieves want to go green in the worst possible way.  Glad to hear CALI is doing something about it.
