The art of recycling can produce a lot of different new ideas but as far as Nissan is concerned, old gas pumps can be turned into many things. This includes guitar amplifiers, popcorn machines, greenhouses, and bird feeders among others.
About 40 gas pumps were transformed into such, a sign of the things to come perhaps should the whole fuel rendering machines end up being replaced by advanced designs one or alternative ones that offer other forms of fuel.
The whole thing is called “A World Without Petrol”, an art exhibit that somehow depicts what these old stuff would be good for once their useful life draws to a close.
The exciting exhibit commemorates the release of the Nissan Leaf, which runs on 100% electricity, can be made locally, and utilizes recycled materials. In this spirit of a greener future, the designer set to work transforming old gas pumps into nearly unrecognizable new pieces, which visitors could play with at the Zero Petrol exhibition in Melbourne.
