Surely many of you mobile phone owners have come across trade up programs offered in your vicinity and while Nokia seems to be doing its own share of properly identifying and disposing old discarded mobile phones, the intent is actually part of a marketing schematics to help spread the its Lumia line.
Called as the “No matter you turn in, you’re trading up”, old handsets can be turned in and the potential buyers could get as much as $300 for it. Not a bad deal considering most phones would not be worth that much don’t you think?
Not only is the program a great way to upgrade or convert your “trash” into gold, it also serves as a tempting way for folks to upgrade to a newer handset without worrying too much about paying for it.
The offer is limited to the folks in the United States though and the trade-in value is not applicable as a discount. This means you have to purchase a handset first to acquire a proof-of-purchase.
After purchasing a Lumia, customers have to mail in their old cell phone with the proof-of-purchase (copy of a receipt would suffice, likely). Nokia will then take a look at your old handset and see if it meets the requirements you put into the estimator.
when all that is clear, they mail you back a Visa prepaid gift card with the money.
