Old Tin Cans Become a Fashion Accessory

With the right connections and aid, some people just need some push to properly get noticed. And for Melissa Hartzel, one lucky African local got a big shot in the arm from his craft, turning old aluminum cans into fashion accessories and hence being paid for it. Handbags and baseball caps were made out of old tin and aluminum and as you can see, they are fine work from recycled efforts. And Old Tin Cans LTD has been making sure that they get their due.

So far, her Web site has sold more than 500 of their items, including tin can bags, hats, vases, and fruit bowls, and purses made from old records and license plates, to customers around the United Kingdom and in Israel, Switzerland, and the United States. At least Hartzel lent a helping hand to these people who really have some neat ideas in mind eh?

Hi I am Melissa founder of Old Tin Can. Just to clarify I do not make the crafts myself but buy the crafts from the South African craft workers and sell them to a wider audience that from their township, they are unable to reach. So I have not taken their idea but am trying to help them make their living by selling their wares.
