Payless To Offer Green Shoe Line

Discount shoe retailer Payless has decided to enter the eco friendly field, and introduce a green shoe line.

The Payless green shoes will not hit the market till next year, to be exact in April 2009, and the shoes will consists of footwear that is made from sustainable materials such as organic cotton, hemp, and linen.

The price on the Payless green shoes will be set low as to make them affordable and accessible to middle America. Tentative pricing is set at about $30 per pair.

The first collection of eight to 12 styles of women’s shoes and handbags will retail for about $30. Footwear for men and kids will follow, with distribution growing to 1,000 stores.

To aid in promotion efforts of this new green shoe line, Payless has brought in model and eco consultant Summer Rayne Oaks.

Summer Rayne Oakes is a model-activist and spokesperson, resident expert, and youngest board of advisors for Planet Green, Discovery Network’s new eco-lifestyle channel.
