Road repairs are practically common in any part of the world but rather than use the usual gravel and pavements, maybe other countries could look into this new alternative wherein plastic is recycled to wax and added to the pavement mix.
That could signal savings for sure while also addressing a growing concern on the proper disposal of plastic as well. Such is the quest of Vancouver, devising ways to help improve their roads while bringing down the plastic waste problems as well.
Although the contribution of plastic is just about 1% to the pavement mix, maybe the contribution could increase in time. The important thing is that the new mix would be longer lasting, something that is reportedly already in the trial stages on three Vancouver roads.
