Recycled Informal Settlements

In what should be a neat solution for informal settlers or for times of disasters, these recycled structures from Sinan Logie should be something helpful at times.

Taking its cue from the Gecekondus design, these should be ideal habitats for people who may be forced to move due to one reason or another. Additionally and at times of unexpected natural disasters, these recycled solutions could also pose cost-efficient shelters.

The emergency shelters will be made from urban recycled stuff which can be gathered from the streets of Istanbul.

The resulting “Gecekondoos” seeks to offer quick and low-cost shelter for the victims of urban renewal operations by allowing them to plug into existing urban infrastructure while staying located within their neighborhoods.
