Recycling Confiscated Carry Ons

by David Allen on Thursday, July 19th, 2007

It appears that some States in the US are heavily into recycling, especially when it comes to other people’s property. With security being as tight as it possibly can at airports, there are many items that are confiscated by airport officials and some that have been just handed in voluntary.

While some States choose to destroy the items, it appears that some are shrewder with the bounty, and have decided to make some cash out of the loot by selling them at auction or in some cases the items have been sold online.

In Pennsylvania they collect good from 13 airports to a total of 2.5 tons a month, these items are then sold on eBay, it is estimated that since 2004 they have raised $360,000 cash for the State.
