Scrap Metal Transformed Art

We have seen how artists are able to transform discarded materials into something eye-catching in the form of art and today some Brazilian artists showcase a slew of art pieces made from such materials once more.

Vik Muniz unveils a series of large scale trompe l’oeil pieces, made from glitter scrap metal originating from various sources like old car doors, bed springs, rivets and gears. The resulting art pieces come in the form of familiar animals, all set to be shown next week at the Armory Show in New York.

Using scrap metal as his medium, Muniz carefully creates large photorealistic collages. Treating each piece of salvage as if it were a precious metal, the waste is transformed into glitzy image of birds in flight and other flora and fauna.
