Old china or dishware don’t necessarily have to be stocked or thrown away for one reason or another. They could be great for display should they no longer have that original luster they had when you first had them.
But for designer Wilhelm Teller, old dishes can be recycled into something unique, tiered cake plates which would certainly be a new upcycled idea, not to mention functional as well.
Teller actually searched for old china via second hand stores, collecting dozens of them, mostly displaced from their original sets. No longer matching and technically orphaned, Teller was able to give them new life through these cake plates.
Holding them together are gold fasteners, which keep each plate a few inches apart to hold cakes and other baked goodies you can marvelously display. They are available in two- and three-tiered pieces inspiring a new way of recycling old dishware for a new sense of purpose.
