How do you build walls? Wood? Cement? Maybe even steel in some cases. For Fumiko Kobayashi however, chairs would do.
The artist came up with the “1,000 Legs, Cultivating Fruits”, a huge wall made of about 300 discarded chairs. Kobayashi was able to collect the discarded chairs from around the neighborhoods over in Tokyo, turning it into a work of art which is now displayed over at the Mori Art Museum.
The “1,000 Legs, Cultivating Fruits” is apparently something which evokes the popular post-tsunami devastation that hit Japan, a different way of rendering art or repurpose old furniture.
