Wow. Nifty app porting twitter over! I can't wait to see what happens when I tick the 'Tweet this comment' box below. Hope the lack of a preview won't lead to some proofing howlers.

I have and still love the principle of these things, but with a sample of one (me) on the psychology, I am not so sure, having signed up for many but, sadly, having read very few, despite mostly being free, glorious representations of the 'real' thing.

I can only explain it as a mix of time and place.

These magazines are, by definition the 'whole thing'. Yet when I am online I am in a mindset that rarely allows for the investment of large chunks of an hour for research and/or entertainment. Hence you are seeing my twitter account above. Mini-chunks that I savour in and, hopefully, can create or disseminate further. As with the FeedBurner headline that seduced me here.

And, as one who spends about 12 hrs a day in front of a screen on 'other stuff' anyway, the notion of adding yet more if other options exist evenings, breaks or holidays is hard to resist. Sadly, by thinking I have got the magazine archived in my Mac, I too often move on and it then lurks, unread, never to be seen again.

One thing, the days of neatly folding or tearing out and pinning up a page to scan where a piece has struck a chord, are made a lot easier when you can either highlight a URL or cut and paste a worthy segment to share.

ps: As the last month erodes, may I steal this moment to direct to an example of the genre that featured/s a free plastic reuse ideas competition Junkk is hosting (linked in the first para): http://www.junkk.com/newsarticle.asp?slevel=0z6...

I think is a good idea as I feel I’m doing my bit for the environment as its all paperless. The only thing I thing I feel I miss out on is that you never get the freebies, but I have written to some of the magazines and they have sent them to me. I haven’t used Zinio I used magazinesondemand.co.uk. I know at the moment they are offering a free download of you choice. Worth checking out so you can see for yourself what you like. The good thing is you get 1 copy extra to share with a friend. If your smart you can take it in turns the buy one!
