Tankless water heaters are seeing an increase in demand within the U.S. due to their water and energy efficiency. It is another quick renovation within the home that can be made more eco friendly.

How Tankless Water Heaters Work

In Madison, Wisconsin the policy advisor for the Department of Natural Resources, Tom Eggert, states that in tankless water heaters:

“The heating process does not begin until you open a tap somewhere in your house, unlike conventional water heaters, which have to maintain a temperature of 120 degrees (or whatever you’ve set it to) throughout the day. The flow rate on tankless units can be variable, meaning you won’t be able to have hot water to run the dishwasher, take a shower and do laundry all at once. But simple time management can handle that. “If you’re not used to thinking about what other hot water uses are happening at the same time, you’ll quickly learn”.

ANNUAL ENERGY BILL SAVINGS OF 35%

The higher initial cost of these energy savers can be recouped within a few months time, and the annual energy bill savings will be at around 35%.

CONSERVE TO PRESERVE

Till your current traditional water heater model is in replacement mode, you can do a few things now to conserve energy usage, such as “lowering the temp you set for it, using less water, and insulating well the water pipes”.
