Wallpaper Making a Comeback in Homes
As reported recently in USA Today, homes across America are again embracing wallpaper, for home design, but not in the traditional wall covering sense.
More and more homes are using wallpaper to spruce up and revive existing home furniture and to decorate accessories, and also to recycle wallpaper found around the house.
Here are some of the ideas presented by USA Today:
- embellish the plain white mats in picture frames with wallpaper instead
- spruce up an old bookshelf by pasting wallpaper to the inside back section and this technique also creates depth to the shelf
- cover dull boxes with creatively patterned thin paper
- revive a paper lampshade with wallpaper
- create wallpaper framed art, and hang it
- custom tailor a wastebasket to match an entire room (from lowes)
The article can be found here and showcases a variety of non-conventional uses for wallpaper. Here is another article i found called “Special Effects with Wallpaper” from Hirshfields. Many good tips!
If you use any of these wallpaper recycling tips, feel free to email me and send me a pic, and i will post it here at Keetsa as an update to this post.
My next post will focus on organic and vinyl-free wallpaper.
