Radiation Shield made from Human Waste

With all the talk about going to space, the needed protection needs to be addressed to. Radiation levels are expected to be harmful, coming from cosmic rays. To do that, a lot of materials and specialization may be needed but it looks like we are in for something new with reports that human waste is being planned for use as a radiation shield.

Inspiration Mars plans to send two people on a fly-by-mission to Mars and back in about 501 days where could simply place solid and liquid human waste products into bags within the hull to be used as a radiation shield. They plan to use human waste to line the spacecraft’s walls, creating a protective shield.

Also, another radiation shield concept that has been discussed is Water Walls. With this shield, water is shielded and can be consumed. The Water Wall concept could also be used in partnership with polyethylene bags, so that osmosis can process clean drinking water from urine and feces.
