A research team from University of Wisconsin in Madison unveiled a new cutting-edge design for solar panels. These solar panels will be designed to simultaneously generate, and store electrons harvested from sunlight in a single device.
The solar panels will work as self-charging solar chargers and unlike other solar cells, would store e electrons on zinc oxide nanowires coated with polyvinylidene fluoride polymer (PVDF). This makes it possibly to use the energy stored in mornings to generate electricity at night. However, there is still some time before these solar cells hits production and much fine tuning is needed since the system has only about four percent efficiency.
