Solar powered Prius

by David Allen on Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Is adding solar panels to the roof of your Prius being over green? Well the answer has to be no, for by adding these solar panels the company behind the project Solar Electric Vehicles has been able to improve the performance of the Prius by a Massive 29%.

The cost of the solar unit would cost around $2000 to $4000, and with the savings made from the fuel etc, the time taken to recoup the money is about two to three years, it depends on how many miles you are doing etc.

The Solar topped Prius can add up to 20 miles per day of free mileage, which by anyone’s standards is pretty good and a great saving.
