There are a lot of things that we can find in science fairs and related events but the amazing thing about it all is that we do get sensible creations from the bright young minds of today.

And the latest one we spotted is that from the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge where a 14 year old has come up with a solar-powered water purification system, certainly something that the world would embrace with open arms today.

Deepika Kurup invented the low cost system. The system exposes titanium oxide and zinc oxide to the sun, resulting in a chemical reaction which eventually produced hydroxyl radicals.

These result in making short work of harmful bacteria in water while also purifying it. Also, this significantly reduces the number of coliform units and E.Coli colonies.
