The Google Solar Project
The Google guys switched on those very impressive solar panels at the Mountain View complex yesterday, progress can be seen via the Google Solar Panel Project.
The installation is a massive 1.6 megawatt system, which covers the roofs of the buildings and even used as shaded areas in the Google car park. They also intend to charge the one hundred hybrid vehicles that the company is in the process of purchasing through the same system, which is made up from over 9,000 separate panels and capable of providing power for over 1,000 homes.
This is a great project and Google say that their installation is the largest corporate system in the States and one of the largest in the world.
