Wal-Mart going Solar!

According to PR Newswire, Wal-Mart has launched a pilot project to determine if it’s possible to for Wal-Mart to become a solar powered business. 22 Wal-Mart stores are expected to produce 20kWh (kilowatt-hours) of solar power per year as part of this initiative. If successful, it is expected that Wal-Mart’s project will be one of the world’s top solar power projects.

Kim Saylors-Laster, VP for energy for Wal-Mart and Saylors-Laster says “we are taking aggressive steps towards our goal of being supplied by 100 percent renewable energy. The pilot project is yet another example of Wal-Mart’s commitment to making decisions that are good for business and the environment.”

I never used to equate Wal-Mart and green, but I guess I should start. What do you think?
