The Stillwater Energy Plant in Nevada is said to be the world’s first Solar-Geothermal Hybrid power plant, a new one that aims to provide more energy sources in the area. The plant which inaugurated in Fallon, Nevada can reportedly produce 59MW of clean power, enough to deliver power to about a thousand homes.
The new plant stands to be a new source that exemplifies how it would be possible to tap renewable energy sources as the demand for power continues to rise. The new solar-geothermal hybrid power plant was built by Enel, one of the world’s largest power plant developers and will serve as a test run for future, similar hybrid projects.
A recent study by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory that examined the economic benefit of the program, estimated that it has created up to 75,000 jobs nationwide in design, construction and manufacturing and $44 billion in total economic output.
