The Latest In Eco-Friendly Detergents

by erin on Thursday, July 5th, 2007

A group of scientists at the Agricultural Research Services (ARS) are working on a new ingredient for laundry detergents that will make them more eco-friendly.

Called a “co-builder”, this new chemical is made out or cornstarch, is biodegradable and will prevent scale. While the product is currently being tested, if it is successful, it should be less harmful than the current eco-friendly and high-efficiency detergents on the market as well as comparable in price.

It would be great to know that those who do laundry (okay, that’s all of us!) who don’t actively choose a more eco-friendly detergent will be causing the environment less harm! Science is an amazing thing.
