Become a Battery, and Crank It UP.

I seem to be coming up with weirder and weirder blog post titles, forgive my sense of humor. The title is in reference to a crank up radio, where we (you) become the battery. (so to speak)

The Freeplay radio is half crank powered and half solar powered. The way it works is you crank it up around 54 times, and it will give you roughly 30 minutes of play time, then it will feed off the sun, based on a solar panel at the top of the radio base.

Check out the Freeplay Radio product features below:

  • Rechargeable Ni-MH battery built in
  • Solar panel
  • Built-in crank means never running out of power
  • High-performance speaker
  • Headphone socket for personal listening
  • Ultra bright white LED flashlight built in
  • Another cool find from the green blogosphere. Thanxs, Steven.

These have been very popular in third world countries for some time. Great innovation!

Yes, this product is fantastic! Human power rules! I wish I could install a crank feature on all of my electronic devices—that would be a great arm workout,no?
